Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technician

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay seeks to employ a full-time permanent GIS Technician, reporting to the Director of Engineering.

As the successful applicant, you must possess the following:

• Completion of a post-secondary program in Geographic Information Systems. A combination of a postgraduate phase of GIS instruction upon completion of cartography or geomatics may be acceptable.
• Have a good working knowledge of surveying principles and practices including the use and understanding of the various coordinate systems.
• Have a good working knowledge of ARC-GIS software, including data entry, editing, reporting, and application development, and familiarity with AUTOCAD software with the principles of networked computer systems.
• Ability to communicate with staff and the public in a respectful and diplomatic manner.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, and as a cooperative and participative team member.
• Have good written and oral communication skills
• Driver License Class 05 and satisfactory driver’s abstract
• Clear RCMP Criminal Record Check, a Provincial Court Check, are conditions of employment

Salary of $33.28 per hour based on a 40 hours per week working schedule as per CUPE Local 2019 collective agreement with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
