The City is making a transformational cultural shift in how we approach Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). As a Documentation Business Strategist within Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Strategy, your character, and commitment to building strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders will be critical. Reporting to the Leader, Safety Strategies and Business Support, the Documentation Business Strategist works closely with the Occupational Health and Safety team to provide strategic guidance and consulting advice with the documentation and information required to support a well-functioning Corporate safety program. Primary duties will include:
  • Compose, edit, and review complex written materials across various mediums including but not limited to, technical proposals, reports, manuals, training programs, and policies and procedures.
  • Assist with program management and evaluation, project delivery, legislative compliance and risk management, and strategy and policy review and development.
  • Lead the design and implementation of information and document management processes.
  • Liaise with City Clerks and Business Unit Records Coordinator (BURC) to ensure OHS is compliant with document and information management guidelines. This includes review dates, disposition, ISC codes, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to improve partnerships and strive to continuously improve individual, team, business, and stakeholder performance.
  • Ensure required documentation and the document management system for the Corporate OHS safety program meets legislation and Corporate standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality content and delivery of the internal safety learning tools (training, leader resources, safety communications, and website) align with the Corporate document management process.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Business Administration, Communications, Information Design, or a related field plus at least 5 years of experience in document management, communications, marketing, strategic planning, research, and group facilitation.
  • Occupational Health and Safety and project management experience are considered an asset.
  • Experience with the development of employee communication and fostering relationships is considered an asset.
  • An intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SharePoint, MS Teams, and Content Server is required.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and communicate effectively with team members and other business units and departments. Able to provide guidance and decisions to staff when necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience explaining complex (legislated requirements) issues to employees.
