The Ministry of Justice is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government. The Provincial Court in North Battleford is seeking a skilled, ethical, confident individual to supervise court administrative staff and to provide comprehensive clerical support.
As the Administrative Supervisor, you will monitor and manage employee performance, recruit, assess probationary periods, and prepare training plans. You will be responsible to ensure that staff follow Human Resource policies, ensure a respectful and harmonious work environment, make recommendations, and address performance issues. You will also handle walk-in and telephone inquiries regarding court dockets and dispositions, explaining applicable policies and procedures, Acts, and Regulations.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be gained through a diploma/degree in Human Justice, Police Studies, or paralegal course and/or extensive experience in a court/legal environment and experience in supervisory capacity. Specifically, this includes knowledge of the justice system as it pertains to the various levels of court as well as legal terminology; Acts, Regulations, policies, protocols and procedures as they apply to the Court; and the preparation of legal documents, court processes and procedures; general office and administrative practices and procedures including handling of cash, filing systems and mail processing; and computer applications, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
