About Us
Government House is the office which supports the constitutional and ceremonial role of the Lieutenant Governor as the Queen’s representative in Nova Scotia. Government House welcomes thousands of visitors per year and the office manages the Lieutenant Governor’s program along with a number of award and outreach programs.
About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Lieutenant Governor, the Chauffeur/Steward is responsible for providing transportation for the Lieutenant Governor and Spouse when and where required in the discharge of their duties.
Primary Accountabilities
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of travel plans and maintenance of a mileage/gasoline purchase log
- Ensure the vehicle is in sound mechanical order and clean
- Providing assistance within Government House in the setup of rooms for functions, assisting in the provision of hospitality.
- Responsible for the Carriage House, its contents and setup of outdoor furniture.
- Occasional transportation of visiting dignitaries will also be required.
Qualifications and Experience
As the successful applicant you have at least five years related experience in automobile operation, and maintenance. Knowledge of traffic regulations and safe driving routes is essential.
Works well and adapts to changing situations and provide advice on driving routes etc. when required.
A valid first aid certificate or willingness to obtain is required.
Assets for this role include:
- Experience in working in a hospitality environment
- Experience in dealing with the public and senior officials in similar working environments
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

A valid Nova Scotia driver’s license with no infractions is required.

Pay Grade: MOS 09
Salary Range: $1,620.52 - $1,659.36 Bi-Weekly
