Integrated Justice Services has an exciting opportunity for a Return to Work Specialist. Reporting to the Acting Director, Occupational Health & Safety, the Return to Work Specialist is an integral part of the Occupational Health & Safety branch.

This position is primarily responsible for managing Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) matters and working partnership with Human Resource Business Partners to provide support, mentor and assist in implementing safe, individualized return to work plans or accommodation requests among the Ministry of Corrections, Policing & Public Safety and the Ministry of Justice & Attorney General and Integrated Justice Services.

The position can be located in either the Regina or Saskatoon office. This position will be filled for a term up to two years with the possibility of extension. Please be advised that this competition may be used for future temporary and permanent full-time positions, as vacancies arise.

This position will require an individual that is a motivated self-starter and possesses practical work experience in WCB claims management from an employer’s perspective, including such areas an employer (E1) form preparation, liaison with WCB and other stakeholders such as medical providers and assist managers in initiating and monitoring return to work and accommodation plans.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Saskatchewan WCB legislation, policies and procedures as well as the duty to accommodate (DTA) under the Human Rights Code is essential. This position will investigate, analyze and problem-solve situations while providing support, mentorship and assistance for a provincial network of facilities for the development and implementation of safe and effective return to work and accommodation plans.

Documentation and organization are critical in this role and includes proficiency in various forms of communication, such as group facilitation, writing and verbal communication. All correspondence is treated in the utmost confidence and is expected to be factual, evidence-based, concise and logical. Knowledge of basic computer databases and spreadsheet applications, as well as proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.

Educational requirements may include a degree, diploma or certificate in human resource management and/or rehabilitation and disability management, although a combination of educational and practical work experience will be considered.

Direct experience in this field is a requirement and candidates must clearly indicate in the cover letter or resume where return to work and medical accommodation experience, skills, abilities and knowledge have been acquired.
