The City of Coquitlam is seeking a Park Attendant to join our Landscape Services Team. This is a temporary full time position with an approximate duration of 8 months.

Working in the Landscape team, our Park Attendant will perform a variety of parks maintenance tasks for parks and streetscapes; assist in landscaping tasks including planting of flowers and shrubs; deal courteously with the public to supply regarding park policies, rules, regulations and general information concerning flowers, trees and shrubs within park. The work may involve limited supervisory responsibility and the operation of a vehicle and various types of equipment to complete assigned tasks.

This position may be required to work on weekends, and some evenings, in order to deliver a high level of service excellence to the public in maintaining local parks and streetscapes. This position will work on boulevards and medians along busy City roads in addition to park sites; you must be comfortable working alongside traffic.

The ideal candidate will have a completion of the tenth school grade supplemented by completion of some basic horticulture course plus some experience in general parks maintenance and gardening work. You must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (with satisfactory driving record). Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check (with no adverse reports).

A CUPE hourly rate of $31.32 (2022 rates) is offered. Temporary full time opportunities provide an additional 6% in lieu of benefits as well as some health and wellness benefits and ability to participate in an earned day off program. The City has a vaccination policy in effect with requirements for all current and future employees.
