Department Information

The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.

Job Information

Located in Inuvik, the Northern Distance Learning (NDL) Program Coordinator, reports to the Manager of NDL within the Curriculum Development and Student Assessment (CDSA) Division.

This position is tasked with managing and coordinating ongoing program requirements including but not limited to maintaining NDL school and course registration and enrolment; preparing communication documents; supporting the involvement of In-class Support Persons (ISPs) through the Canadian University Students Abroad (CUSO); supporting NDL schools through in-person on-site visits; preparing education bodies’ funding and reporting documentation as needed; and, managing all aspects of the annual Post-Secondary Bridging Experience (PSBE).

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of a Diploma in Education, Business Administration, or another related field, and two (2) years of related work experience, including a minimum of one (1) year of successful online learning or technology management experience within a Northern context.

OR

Completion of a Senior Secondary Diploma and three (3) years of progressive online learning or technology management experience within a Northern context.

Preference will be given to a candidate who has successful project management or strategic planning experience. Proficiency of the incumbent in at least one NWT Indigenous language or French would be an asset.
