The Ministry of Energy and Resources develops, coordinates and implements policies and programs to promote the growth and responsible development of the province's natural resources industries. The ministry operates as the primary regulatory authority for the oil and gas industry and ensures competitive royalty systems, regulations and policies for all natural resource sectors. The ministry also plays an important role in promoting Saskatchewan's diverse resource potential to investors around the world.

The ministry is seeking a leader that engages employees, builds culture, and has a passion for innovation for the position of Director, Mineral Programs and Development. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Mineral Policy Branch, this position is responsible for the development of regulatory, policy and program initiatives for the Government of Saskatchewan. As Director, you will be responsible for leading program management as well as strategic, market and economic analysis and forecasts related to emerging commodities in Saskatchewan’s mining sector. This challenging role also offers the opportunity to represent provincial mining interests with federal and provincial governments, as well as liaise with senior industry representatives.

As our ideal candidate, you are a strategic thinker, with in-depth knowledge of the Saskatchewan mining industry and demonstrated expertise in planning, program development, economic and financial analysis and tax and royalty structures. You have demonstrated leadership and management skills and the ability to establish effective partnerships both internal and external to the ministry. You have superior communication, problem-solving and negotiations skills in order to support the development of our mineral resources. Typically, our successful candidate will have obtained the knowledge required for this position through the completion of a post-secondary degree in a related discipline combined with experience in mining analysis, policy, planning and development. A combination of skills, training and experiences providing an equivalent background will be considered.
