About Our Opportunity


As the Corporate Information Management Architect, you play a strategic role in the implementation of an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Strategy for the Province of Nova Scotia as part of the modernization action plan in support of digital government. You have a key role in supporting, promoting, and sharing the importance of managing information to government and the citizens of Nova Scotia.


The Corporate Information Management Architect is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and participates in the ongoing development of the Corporate Information Management Program and its services and helps to shape our services for the future and ensure they meet client expectations. In this position you are supported by the Manager of Information Management.

Primary Accountabilities


As the Corporate Information Management Architect, you will:


  • Provide strategic direction and support for the management of Government's information and data assets through the development of corporate IM strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Advise client departments on IM matters and communicate and promote the goals and benefits of IM to our clients and its potential to improve program and service delivery.
  • Lead large corporate IM projects and initiatives that optimize the value of government’s information and data and provide value to government, businesses, and the citizens of Nova Scotia.
  • Develop business cases and submissions for new information and data services including financial analysis and project funding.
  • Develop requests for purchase and statements of work for supporting services and manage the work of consultants and liaise with vendors.
  • Create and deliver informative and engaging IM presentations and support materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops and serve on strategic IM-related committees.
  • Stay on top of emerging and innovative trends in IM and undertake research on a broad range of IM topics.

Qualifications and Experience


A university degree in a specialization applicable to the information management discipline or other relevant degree in areas such as library and information sciences, informatics, public administration, or business administration and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience. An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement policy focused on the use and management of government’s information and data to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to develop strategies that support the value of information and data as corporate assets that contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of government.
  • Excellent research skills, with an ability to synthesize and summarize complex information into knowledge using a professional writing style.
  • High degree of problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Superb communication (both oral and written), organization, and planning skills.
  • An understanding of the role of policy and legislation compliance and how it contributes to improved governance and accountability.
  • Training and experience in project management.
  • Working knowledge of metrics, measurement, evaluation, and marketing, and an ability to apply them.
  • A good understanding of current technologies and client-centric service delivery.
  • Experience with and expertise in specialized areas of IM.
  • A broad base of IM knowledge and experience in data management and analytics.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work with, win and maintain the respect and confidence of colleagues and clients at all levels within government as well as with external stakeholders and provide information services with a customer-centric focus.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $2,913.59 - $3,421.98 Bi-Weekly
