Our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department is looking for customer-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment to join the team as a Booking Clerk. This position assists community groups and the public in coordinating bookings for the various recreation facilities across the City of Burnaby, such as Swangard Stadium, sports fields, and our multiple community centres. The Booking Clerk receives rental requests, checks availability, issues rental contracts, issues invoices and collects fees, and coordinates with other staff regarding the setup of spaces as needed. There is a high level of public interaction in this role, including providing in person and telephone assistance, receiving complaints, and maintaining effective working relationships with both the public and internal contacts. Some record keeping and data entry is involved, such as maintaining and updating facility bookings, recording and deleting cancellations, preparing a variety of records and maintaining files. This position may supervise a few clerical subordinates. Performs related work as required.



Qualifications include completion of the 12th School Grade including or supplemented by commercial and typing courses plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate for this position will possess the ability to deal courteously with the public, supervise subordinates, and handle a variety of requests and complaints in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Clerical office experience, including business writing, record keeping and processing payments. Skill in the operation of computer systems related to the work involved is also required.
