POSITION OVERVIEW:
This auxiliary position will provide office support services to senior RCMP staff and the Municipal Manager. A major responsibility is to relieve a superior of office details and to act with some authority on routine matters. You will be required to undertake clerical assignments of considerable importance. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; to review, develop, recommend and upon approval, implement new and/or improved systems pertaining to departmental administrative matters and to participate in the review of departmental policies and to provide recommendations regarding proposed changes; to provide orientation to departmental employees; and to prepare and maintain a variety of records, statistical and narrative reports, correspondence, files and related materials.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Completion of the 12th school grade including or supplemented by business, and word processing courses; plus considerable related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of the applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing departmental operations.

Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, methods and procedures.

Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar and arithmetic.

Sound knowledge of recordkeeping, indexing, billing and related clerical functions.

Some knowledge of elementary accounting principles and practices and of applicable detachment payroll and budget classifications and procedures.

Ability to understand and interpret complex oral and written instructions and apply agreement provisions related to shift scheduling and overtime.

Ability to perform assigned duties and work under minimal supervision and to make decisions in accordance with applicable rules, policies and procedures.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, to explain and interpret rules and regulations governing departmental operations.

Ability to compose non routine correspondence and to prepare, process and maintain a variety of records and reports.

Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer and standard office software.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATES:
Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is an auxiliary position with no guarantee of regular scheduled hours.
