Women's Transition Home Executive Assistant

This is a term to cover a maternity leave. We work from a feminist philosophy grounded in human rights. We work for social change to end all forms of violence. As a member of the Women’s Transition Home staff, the Executive Assistant (EA) will assist the Executive Director (ED) in the operations of the Women’s Transition Home and Kaushee’s Place Housing Society. The EA will report directly to the ED or the acting ED and work collaboratively with the management team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the management team will ensure our work reflects the vision and priorities of Women Transition Home Board of Directors.
  • Write and assist in the management of projects

  • Create positive working relations with other staff based on team work, respect, cooperation and shared decision making

  • Maintain confidentiality of the management team, victim information, and private Society records

  • Maintain records, filing and take minutes at meetings

  • Assists in writing correspondence, contracts and other documents


  • As per operational requirements, assist the with some of the duties of a Transition Home Worker

  • Assist ED with human resource management

  • Maintain good relationships with community agencies and connections to other women’s groups

  • Participates in community working groups and represents the Society as directed

  • Is able to create and present workshops and information session when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of violence against women and the realities facing of Indigenous women
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience writing proposals and managing projects

  • Knowledge of Response-Based Practice an asset

  • Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgment in stressful situations

  • Proven time management skills and flexible to meet changing priorities

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and group activities

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, to set priorities

  • Proficiency in Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, website management and other mediums for reporting and communications.
