This is for two full-time permanent positions working 75 hours bi-weekly.

Community Services is considering permanently filling the following exciting and challenging positions:

  • Assistant Deputy Minister – Protective Services
  • Assistant Deputy Minister – Regulatory and Consumer Services

Assistant Deputy Ministers have a critical role in departments and the organization and are responsible for providing senior leadership in a broad range of management programs, functions and services. They provide strategic direction and support the development of integrated, effective and responsive divisions and play a key role in their department’s Senior Management Team.

As an ideal candidate, you will have a proven record of success as a strategic, influential and service-oriented leader who has effectively committed and applied resources to achieve positive and meaningful results. You are able to balance multiple priorities in a complex, multi-disciplinary and often high-profile work environment, and cultivating effective working relationships within the department, across Yukon government, and externally (federal, provincial/territorial, municipal and First Nations) in the pursuit of shared objectives that advance the vision, mission and mandate of department and the Government of Yukon.


Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the following qualifications. Please note, selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Strong executive-level experience in the public sector; combined with a theoretical base in leadership and public sector administration, including strategic planning, human resources, and financial management
  • Experience providing strategic leadership in the management of diverse and complex program areas, leading teams and working collaboratively across government and externally;
  • Post secondary education with a focus in political science, public administration, business or related.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of Yukon First Nations Final and Self-Government Agreements.
  • Extensive experience in intergovernmental relations, policy and/or communications in a senior level or leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in policy development, negotiation, collaborative problem solving, facilitation and conflict resolution.

Candidates who have education, training, and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment: Ability to travel internationally across borders, valid passport, class 5 driver’s licence

Job Requirements: Travel within Yukon, Canada and internationally

Candidate Registry: Certified candidates will be placed on the Yukon government ADM Candidate Registry for a minimum period of one year, and be notified of future ADM level opportunities during this time.
