Full Description
The Transit Customer Service Representative is responsible for ensuring quality and friendly customer service while promoting Transit Services; processing sales transactions of Transit and Action Bus tickets and passes. Recording and maintaining lost and found items. Supporting administration with additional clerical duties.
Job Requirements:
Education & Courses:
- Senior High School Diploma
- Introductory Accounting Courses or equivalent
- Standard First Aid Course – Must be successfully completed within 3 months of hiring.
- Formal training in “Violence in the Workplace” or “Dealing with Difficult Customers” would be an asset
Experience:
- Minimum one year customer service experience that requires accurate and regular cash handling in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of the windows based computer system including Office 365, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent working knowledge of Google Maps and transit related programs such as Trapeze / EZCST, MyBus, DM and Tempest software would be an asset.
- Experience in operating a variety of office machines (multi-line phone system, adding machine, debit/credit card machine, photo ID printer, laminator, etc.)
- Ability to type a minimum of 45 wpm accurately
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.

- Ability to handle deadlines and to organize time so as to handle a high volume of work and frequent interruptions and conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and handle all tasks set out in the job description with a high degree of accuracy and within prescribed deadlines.
- Ability to work in a considerably noisy environment.
- Good knowledge of the City of Red Deer
- Clear criminal records check

Hours of Work: 75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 4:45 pm.
