The ministry is seeking a motivated, strategic and innovative Senior Evaluator for the Strategic Management Branch. Primary accountabilities include leading and supporting program evaluation and research activities, and providing analysis on internal and external factors impacting the achievement of ministry priorities. Evaluation activities typically assess alignment, performance and effectiveness of ministry investments in programs and service delivery, and support continuous improvement efforts. Working with partners to identify and prioritize strategic performance/evaluation issues, developing recommendations to improve program effectiveness, and sustaining ministry best practices in the area of evaluation is a key area of focus.

The Senior Evaluator helps to develop, guide and support research and evaluation activities and frameworks that enable the ministry’s strategic direction and priorities. The Senior Evaluator is tasked with leading the practice and utilizing evaluation as a tool to improve decision-making, delivery processes, and outcomes. The incumbent will support or lead ministry and cross-ministry review teams, provide guidance, direction and support to staff on evaluation activities, and communicate progress to senior officials. The position requires strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills, and strategic orientation.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a graduate degree in the social sciences, or the completion of a bachelor’s degree and several years of related professional experience.
