Job Information
Located in Yellowknife and reporting directly to the Territorial Comptroller, Financial Services, the Manager, Accounts Receivable is responsible for manageing and operational oversight of the Accounts Receivable, Medical Billing, Medical Travel and Collections functions of the financial accounting cycle for the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA).
The Manager, Accounts Receivable manages and coordinates accounts receivable functions to ensure transactions are entered and processed accurately and within time frames stipulated by GNWT and/or NTHSSA policies. The Manager, Accounts Receivable is also responsible for the human resource and workload managament of approximately five clerical positions that support approximately 120 program and support service areas with a combined annual operating budget of $112 million.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices (GAAP) and experience in the application of accounting theories and principles to ensure the proper recording of financial transactions and adherence to internal financial controls.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and the ability to apply those principles to motivate staff and promote team building
- Accuracy of work is essential
Typically the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of a relevant undergraduate degree and completion of four competencies of the CPA Professional Education Program combined with with five years of accounting experience and three years of supervisory experience. Equivalent combinations of educational qualifications and experience will be considered on individual basis.
