Who we are…

As the responsible stewards of public funds, the Department of Finance partners to ensure value for money in the delivery of programs and services for Yukoners. The Department of Finance serves as the territory’s statistical body and develops the territorial budget, corresponding supplementary budgets and Public Accounts for the territory. It is also responsible for negotiating, coordinating and representing Yukon on inter-governmental financial matters with other jurisdictions. In its capacity as a central agency, the department works with all areas of government in the creation of their annual departmental budgets and in processing operational accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

The opportunity…

The Evaluation Unit with the Department of Finance is looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our professional team.

This position provides evaluation-focused leadership and guidance to aligning government spending with mandates, enhancing financial sustainability, improving effectiveness and efficiency of operation, and building evaluation capacity throughout government.

Working with Yukon Government departments, the position applies knowledge of evaluation methodologies and skills in communication and training to enhance decision-making and service capacity for Yukon government partners (e.g. First Nations, municipal governments, NGOs, and Yukon Corporations).

This position will draw upon primary strengths in systems thinking and secondary strengths in facilitation, data analysis, and report development.

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a research-based program.
  • Significant experience in performance measurement, evaluation, and related methodologies
  • Experience gathering information, conducting analyses, providing advice and presenting findings to various audiences in all levels of public or private sector organizations including senior management
  • Experience in delivering group facilitation and training to various audiences
  • Significant experience working with organizations to integrate indigenous ways of knowing into organizational systems and structures would be an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
