The* Opportunity*
Do you like working with the general public? Would you like working in a team environment that has responsibility for being an initial point of contact for those in need of police services? In this dynamic and fast-paced environment the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, recording and responding to requests for police services and information received from the general public, via telephone. More specifically, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate recording of requests for service, the dispatch of the occurrence and the subsequent database queries needed as per operational and officer safety requirements. This role also provides coverage to the Front Counter unit in which you would work in a customer-facing role, assisting the public. It is a job like no other and requires a particular skill set to succeed. If this appeals to you, perhaps you are the one we are looking for.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for answering and responding to the Grande Prairie RCMP and City of Grande Prairie Enforcement Services complaint and general inquiry telephone lines.
  • You will be responsible for explaining federal, provincial and municipal legislation, bylaws, as well as policies and procedures to the general public.
  • You will be responsible for recording accurate call details and determining the priority of the call based on the guidelines outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • You will be responsible for dispatching complaint details electronically and over the radio.
  • You will be responsible for completing database queries and relaying results to the officer via radio.
  • You will be trained to provide occasional coverage to the Front Counter Unit dealing with the general public.

You Bring
To be successful, you should possess a High School Diploma along with a Business Administration Certificate from a recognized educational institution. In addition, you should have a minimum of two years' experience working in a busy office environment, preferably in a call centre environment. It would be considered an asset to have work experience with the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database and the Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS) as well as working in a law enforcement environment. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered. Preference may be given to candidates who currently possess an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
