The Construction Branch with the Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to become their Aggregate Resource Manager located in Saskatoon.

As the Aggregate Resource Manager, you will develop annual delivery plans for non-renewable aggregate resources required for current and long range highway contracts in the province. You will assess the feasibility of developing sources using benefit cost analysis, risk assessment techniques, and assessment of alternatives. You will also plan, organize and develop, and assign annual work project schedules for the location, investigation, testing and establishment and/or search for aggregate and other material deposits, while ensuring all environmental and heritage regulations are addressed.

You may negotiate landowners' payments for damages, royalty agreements, and land for access roads. Negotiations with contractors may include rates for equipment rentals, testing services, and pit restoration work. Negotiations with local governments may include sharing of aggregate resources, purchasing of aggregate material, and issuing permits to use Ministry sources.

You will supervise, train and evaluate the performance of aggregate resource staff, consultants and contractors in methods and techniques associated with aggregate resource management relating to source investigations, lab and field testing procedures, GPS and conventional survey practices, drafting standards. You will have experience in satellite and air photo land form analysis and have a strong knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a geography or geology degree, or a diploma in applied sciences and technology and several years of related work experience.
