The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has an exciting career opportunity as Young Offender Deputy Director at the Paul Dojack Youth Centre. Under the authority of The Youth Criminal Justice Act, the Centre provides secure and open custody and remand as well as a range of educational and rehabilitative programming for male and female youth ages 12-18. The Centre has an approved bed space of 95.
Reporting to the Director of Operations or Director of Programs, you will be responsible for the supervision of designated staff teams within the facility. In addition to administering the operations of two units, in the absence of management personal, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the facility. You will participate in the Centre's program and procedures development, delivery and evaluation. You will share the responsibility for recruitment as well as ongoing staff training needs within the Centre.
To be successful in this competition candidates will have knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act; good interpersonal communication and an understanding of counseling methodologies. You will also have knowledge of institutional policies and procedures as they relate to static and dynamic security. We are seeking a candidate who has experience as a supervisor as you will be expected to lead, instruct, guide, coach and encourage staff and residents, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
