The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located
north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the
KRG to work in the capacity of:
Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator Instructor
TEAM LEADER
(TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME POSITION)
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the KRG Municipal Public Works Department, the duties of the team
leader include:
- Ensure follow-up on the certification process for drinking water treatment plant operators and deliver the
necessary related training (chlorine dose calculations, occupational health and safety, work in enclosed
spaces, water quality monitoring, etc.).
- Plan the work of maintenance instructors and follow up on the work to be performed.
- Plan schedules and necessary resources in cooperation with maintenance instructors.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan with project managers and maintenance
- Prepare an operating and procedures manual for each drinking water treatment plant.
- Participate in the start-up of drinking water treatment plants following upgrading work.
- Perform any other related task requested by his supervisor.
Qualifications:
• University degree in chemistry/process or other related fields with 3 years of relevant work experience,
or college studies diploma in water purification with a minimum five years of relevant work experience,
or
Vocational studies diploma in drinking water plant operations and a minimum seven years of relevant
work experience. Pertinent related work experience may also be considered.
- Trades proficiency certificate (in addition to an above-mentioned diploma) for ODCi, OSChV and Px is
- Practical computer skills. Expertise with preventive maintenance systems is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to share knowledge.
- Ability to lead, coach and mentor technical teams
- Good capacity to adapt and work autonomously. Demonstrate resourcefulness and enjoy teamwork.
- Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and
- Work experience north of the 55th parallel will be considered an asset.
- Availability to travel in Nunavik for varying periods.
Place of work: Kuujjuaq
Salary: Minimum: $50 950 annually – max.: $87 221 annually (Class 9).
Benefits*: Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually.
Food allowance: minimum $3 707 annually.
Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually
Simplified Pension Plan: 6% employer; 4% employee.
Group insurance.
Vacation: 20 days annually.
Statutory holidays: 19 days including 10 during the Christmas period.
