At WorkplaceNL, we work with employers, stakeholders, and our community partners to provide occupational health and safety education and help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses in Newfoundland and Labrador. We also provide compensation and support to injured workers and their employers during their recovery, rehabilitation, and safe return to work.

We are currently looking for Case Managers who will each be accountable for the effective, integrated management of an assigned group of claims. In this role you will work with injured workers, their employers, and a team of professionals to provide claims and rehabilitation services including appropriate medical management, early and safe return to work, labour market re-entry and compensation services. You will also work closely with benefit approvals for fatal injury and occupational disease claims, as well as ongoing management of occupational disease claims.

We think you will thrive in this position if the following describes you (experience and an educational equivalency may be considered):

  • University degree, preferably in health care, Social Sciences or a related area
  • Three years' experience with responsibilities for an assigned client centered caseload as well as experience making decisions that impact an individual case
  • Demonstrated writing abilities
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with strong decision-making abilities, good judgment, well demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation legislation, policies and procedures, programs and services, medical terminology and medical modalities, and an understanding of the health care delivery system in the province
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a client service orientation
  • Knowledge of administrative law, the applicability of the rules of natural justice and an understanding of the role government, industry and labour play in the overall workers' compensation system is also required.
  • A vehicle and valid driver's license
