The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport’s mission is to contribute to Saskatchewan's high quality of life, instill pride and enhance economic growth through managment of the Sasakatchewan provincial park system, the provision of arts, culture, recreation, sport and tourism opportunities. The Ministry is currently seeking dynamic and highly motivated individuals, who are flexible team players for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands at Condie Nature Refuge, Regina Beach Recreation Site and Rowan's Ravine Provinvial Park within the Ministry. Reporting to the Supervisor, these positions will be involved in the operation and maintenance program of these sites.
As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of repair and general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. Operate light to medium equipment such as light trucks, riding mower, skid steer, power tools and other equipment as directed. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, and pick up and disposal of garbage and debris. You will also assist with maintenance and care of park facilities, grounds and trails. You will assist with the monitoring and inspection of the water systems and sewer systems under the direction of the supervisor. This position involves frequent lifting, carrying and moving supplies and equipment and must comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, WHMIS, and TDG. You must possess a current valid Driver’s License, and must be available to work on various shifts including weekends. This position may be required to supervise staff.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of safe equipment and building operation, ground maintenance, minor repairs, and basic cleaning methods for public spaces. You will also have knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations.
The successful candidate will have experience and ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have the ability to work independently, and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments and contribute towards a positive working environment. You will have the ability to respond accurately, clearly and courteously to inquiries from the general public. You will also have the ability to identify problems, consider various options and determine appropriate course of action. You must also be able to physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving supplies and equipment, such as picnic tables and cleaning supplies.
