Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor of Education or equivalent; with specialization in elementary education;

Recent experience teaching at the elementary grade levels including primary;

Recent experience in the use of current, research-based practices for assessment strategies and literacy and numeracy learning is an asset;

Additional training in Special Education is an asset;

Recent experience designing inclusive learning environments for children with a wide range of abilities and developmental levels is an asset;

Experience with a trauma sensitive approach is an asset.

Knowledge of and ability to help develop and implement Individual Education Plans, Student Learning Plans and Behaviour Support Plans;

Strong classroom management, planning, and organizational skills;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

Ability to work and contribute as a member of a professional learning community;

Experience incorporating First Nations knowledge and outdoor education/experiential education into the curricular studies;

Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population.

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
