Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Homestay Manager, the Homestay Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing support of all students privately placed or enrolled in the home stay program within the district's International Student Programs. The Home Stay Coordinator’s goal is to support the cultural integration and harmonious interactions of the Home Stay families and the students in their placements in Canadian homes or students in private accommodation, within the context of the International Student Programs policies and guidelines. The position utilizes both computerized and manual systems.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 12 Graduation
Valid BC Drivers License and access to a vehicle
Working knowledge of office procedures and standard office equipment including personal computers and office software
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
Good command of written/spoken English (grammar, spelling, punctuation)
Ability to use judgement and tact in providing information
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with teenagers in a multi-cultural environment
Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision
OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Oral and written fluency in both English and another designated language(s)
Knowledge of local support services (e.g. buses, banking)
Knowledge of School District administrative software
Knowledge of School District operations
Ability to work flexible hours
