3D PRINTING TECHNICIAN
SCIENCE TECHNICIAN III (BAND 5)
Medical Laboratories /Health Science Information and Media Service (HSIMS)
Faculty of Medicine
(1 year contractual position, with the possibility of extension)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager of Medical Laboratories and the Director of HSIMS, the successful applicant will be required to perform a variety of standardized and specialized 3D printing tasks within the MUN MED 3D laboratory within Medical Laboratories, Faculty of Medicine. Duties include: 3D printing, including developing digital 3D models, selecting appropriate materials and running printers; maintaining the laboratory space and cleaning and upkeep of specialized printers; booking computers and printers; overseeing students/users who enter the space; summarizing monthly usage for billing purposes for research and learning projects; performing routine maintenance; reporting issues and organizing necessary repairs and updates to computers and printers; using pre-existing molds and codes to make task trainers, prints etc.; and other related duties as required within Medical Laboratories.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) in 3D printing/modelling experience and/or laboratory work, including designing and developing digital 3D models, selecting appropriate materials, running printers, and the ability to use and adapt related software, as well as completion of majority of coursework towards an undergraduate degree or technical certification in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of laboratory safety and ability to complete required laboratory safety courses; experience using MS Office; well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential. Knowledge of the functions of the other units within Medical Laboratories and/or any other training related to those roles are assets.

SALARY
$39,910 - $55,962 (CUPE Local 1615)
