Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (E.D.) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada (PEIANC), including the management of programs and services, finances, and staff. The E.D. is the principal spokesperson for the organization and maintains a balance between internal management and external relationship building in support of the Association’s objectives. Under the guidance of the Board, the successful candidate will also be responsible for strategic planning and sourcing funding for the Association.


Requirements:

  • University degree in the field(s) of human or social sciences, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4-6 years’ work experience in a charitable or not-for-profit environment and held a leadership role in a similar environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized
  • Experience with and knowledge of immigration laws and regulations is an asset
  • Experience working with immigrants or in an intercultural environment is an asset
  • Experience with social media and marketing

General Duties:

  • Assist the Board in the preparation and implementation of long-term strategic plans
  • Oversee implementation and delivery of the Association’s programs and services
  • Develop new initiatives and special projects to serve client needs
  • Act as the official spokesperson of the Association
  • Prepare funding proposals
  • Ensure that all operations and activities adhere to the Association’s vision and mission
  • Ensure the overall security of the assets and inventory of the Association
  • Ensure proper administrative procedures and confidentiality with respect to maintenance of records and statistics
  • Consult with Federal and Provincial Government Departments and private sector agencies on matters pertaining to the work of the Association
  • Represent the Association where issues related to immigration and settlement are being publicly addressed
  • Oversee and participate in recruitment, hiring, and training and orientation for new employees, and professional development and performance reviews for all staff
  • Provide overall direction on the use of IT for the Association; direct the development and maintenance of the Association’s
