ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF SPECIALIST III
Department of Biochemistry
(Permanent Position)

DUTIES
The successful applicant will perform responsible professional work in providing administrative direction to the Department of Biochemistry. Duties include developing departmental budget for review by Department Head; coordinating human resource activities, including recruitment, classification, payroll and collective agreement administration; graduate student support, maintaining financial records including verifying the department budget and research funds; coordinating purchasing; faculty load and compensation (FLAC) and other teaching support related duties; providing oversight on coordination of building maintenance and repair work; providing guidance and direction on the usage or implementation of policies and procedures; supervising the department office and staff; providing advice to academic staff on human resource issues; acting as administrative liaison with other University units; and performing other related duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in administrative work; graduation with a university degree in business administration, public administration, or organizational management; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of Banner Student, Banner Finance, Banner HR, FAST, Banner Workflow, OnBase, Microsoft Office (with emphasis on Excel), and University policy and procedures and Collective Agreement interpretation would be definite assets. Knowledge of Sitebuilder and the Environmental Health and Safety Management System storefront purchasing modules would be an asset. Well developed analytical, problem solving and communications skills are essential.

SALARY
$57,146 - $77,923 (Management and Professional)
