QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in early childhood or primary education;

Experience in preschool programming focused on Montessori/Play Based education (such as Early Learning Programming);

Experience teaching at the primary/kindergarten level in classrooms with a wide range of abilities and learning styles;

Experience in the use of current, research based practices for assessment strategies in pre- literacy and numeracy programming would be an asset;

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
An appreciation and understanding of the unique needs of primary/kindergarten/pre-school aged students;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students, parents, administration, other staff members and consultants;

Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills that include implementation of social/emotional pedagogy;

Knowledge and understanding in Positive Behaviour Intervention Strategies (PBIS) and character education programming to meet exceptional learning and behavioural needs;

Ability to lead early learning activities, including stories, music and art, to help children grow linguistically, physically, socially and emotionally;

Ability to work as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program;

Ability to be flexible to support students in unique situations;

Ability to integrate experiential learning and cultural practices into the curriculum;

Ability to develop a play based environment;

Willingness to support and implement school wide philosophies and initiatives;

Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally-diverse student population;

Willingness to live and participate in a small rural community.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
