About the Opportunity

Currently, Johnston Builders has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon on a full-time basis. Occasional travel (10%) to sites within northern B.C./Canada will be required.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:

Working closely with design-build team from project conception to completion and communicating closely with planning departments and permit authorities
Coordinating and scheduling design and construction
Reporting on Job Cost - monitoring costs and budget to maintain or exceed the estimated margin
Issuing subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and detailing scope assessments to ensure inclusiveness
Conducting detailed shop drawing reviews and coordination
Conducting project site meetings and distributing minutes promptly
Working closely with Accounts Payable/Receivable personnel to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payables, and change orders
Working closely with the estimator to establish budget controls
Ensuring quality control and quality assurance during the construction duration
Collaborating with JBL safety officer to ensure work progresses in accordance with company safety program and OHS regulations
Communicating with the client on all aspects of the project relating to schedule, work coordination, progress billing, and change orders
Ensuring work is conducted in accordance with Johnston Builders Operation Procedures Manual
More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need at least 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with preferably at least 7 years of project management experience. A diploma or degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent education/experience is an asset.

You must have a clear understanding of the Building Code, and the commercial and light industrial construction industry, with the ability to coordinate and oversee projects in the $500,000 to $30 million range. A valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required.

As our ideal candidate, you have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and an eagerness to learn. You are a motivated self-starter with high attention to detail and accuracy, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills, along with effective organizational and time management expertise will ensure success in this role.

Computer skills, including the ability to competently operate computerized job-costing, Bluebeam/Adobe ProX, Procore, PlanGrid, and Office 365 are required. Most importantly, you will have experience providing unparalleled service to clients and liaising with construction personnel. As such, you need to be a resourceful and confident problem-solver who can make assertive big-picture decisions for the benefit of the project and our clients.
