YOUTH LIAISON OFFICER (BAND LEVEL 6)

Marine Institute
(Contractual Position ending October 1, 2023)


The Marine Institute of Memorial University is a technically oriented education, training, and applied research institution. Academic and Student Affairs – works collaboratively with various areas of the Marine Institute to develop and implement the institute’s recruitment and student success strategies. The office is looking for an energetic team player to join the team.

DUTIES
The successful applicant will guide and support the planning, development and implementation of youth engagement activities and student leadership programming for the Marine Institute campus. The activities will be focused on, engaging youth in activities related to the various aspects of the ocean and marine environments and the development and execution of the MI Lead program. Examples of current youth engagement programming include but are not limited to the annual Model Boat Race, MATE ROV competitions, Youth and the Oceans conference series and the primary leadership program is the MI Lead program. This role will include program development, promotion, administration, and evaluation and duties will include managing programs, projects, initiatives, events, and activities, developing, and presenting to local and national audiences and working collaborative within Academic and Student Affairs. This position requires weekend & evening work, and public appearances.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) in a science or education-based field; development, coordination and/or administration of programming for youth; an undergraduate degree or diploma of technology, preferably in science, education, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to problem solve and work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s licence as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is also required. Knowledge of the Marine Institute’s programs is an asset.

SALARY
$43,436 - $60,912 per annum (NAPE Local 7850)
