Fairmont Banff Springs is looking for a creative individual to lead and deliver world-class Resort Activities, Animation and Special Event programs that bring our "Castle in the Rockies" to life for our guests. The Director of Resort Activities and Experiences prepares and delivers exciting events and programs, focusing on engaging and connecting guests to our hotel and Banff National Park.

What you will be doing:
- Reporting to the Hotel Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the creation, development, organization and implementation of all guest activities; recreation, private experiences (tours), resort animation, special and holiday events (including, but not limited to, Christmas, New Year, Family Day, Easter, Halloween etc.) and related programs
- Overall management of Resort Activities team, i.e.: Adventure & Experience Manager, Supervisor, Animators and Interpretive Guides)
- Coach and mentor colleagues in providing exceptional customer service while creating an environment that allows colleagues to exceed guest expectations and provide a path for career development with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts
- Analyze Guest Satisfaction data, corrective actions and a drive for continuous improvement in this area
- Review industry trends for new, creative and innovative product opportunities
- Build effective working relationships with all key stakeholders, e.g. Hotel Operations team, Marketing and HR
- Specific focus on the working relationship with the Marketing & F&B teams, especially developing marketing campaigns to promote the hotel
- Primary contact for Parks Canada, Banff tour operators, and other third-party companies (guest entertainers, guest lecturers/presenters, etc.) concerning resort activities or special events
- Conduct regular communication with all colleagues to ensure maximum engagement
- Accurate focused management of resort activities and special events budgeting (P&L and CAPEX) and planning
- Maximize revenues by promoting awareness and training for all colleagues on our offerings and events
- Ensure our guest's and colleague safety at all times
- Other reasonable duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
- A diploma or degree in a related field is preferred
- Minimum two years' Director Level experience working in events, entertainment or recreation, preferably in a Luxury Hotel or Cruise industry or a minimum of five years experience in a senior position
- Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for Activities, Hotel Animation and guest programming
- Experience in animating and theming events is an asset
- A dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure, performs multiple functions, and is willing to step "out of the box."
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office functions including Word, PowerPoint & Excel Proficiency in Budget planning
- Excellent leadership, management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to tactfully deal with internal and external contacts
- Self-motivated and driven to deliver company goals
- Up to date knowledge of the resort activities/entertainment/event industry and trends
